Tennis Brainfood- Issue 46
Have you ever hit that point in your tennis journey where improvement seems to come to a screeching halt? It's like you're stuck in quicksand, right?
Starting out in tennis is tough, we all know that. But as you clock in more hours on the court, you start feeling more and more confident. The progress is real, and it's exciting!
However, as time goes on and you keep playing, that growth spurt often becomes a slow and painful crawl.
It hits differently, especially for junior players who people claim “peak” too soon. This "peak" that people always talk about? It's not as cut and dry as it seems.
The problem isn't that you've reached your limit; the problem is dealing with the frustration of slower progress.
Ever felt like you've hit a brick wall and can't break through to the next level?
You're not alone.
When it feels like you’ve “peaked”, don't give up just yet. The hardest part of your tennis journey might just be the most rewarding if you stick with it.
So, whether you're a junior player or an adult hitting the courts, remember this: growth doesn't stop, it just slows down a bit. And that's okay!
And for those of you feeling trapped at a 3.5 level and are struggling to reach that 4.0 USTA rating…don't sweat it either. Here's a video with 10 reasons why you might be feeling stuck at 3.5 and how to push past it.
So no matter what your level, understand this.
A player only “peaks” if they decide they are peaked. In reality, everyone can grow their tennis game no matter what your level, but you have to be patient and aware that it’s going to take time, a positive attitude, and hard work to get there.
